Ratingen, 10 August 2021 – SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has joined the EUREF community and will move to the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf in 2024. By moving to the biggest climate-neutral campus in North Rhine-Westphalia, SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa offers its employees an innovative and inspiring working environment, along with an innovation and digitalisation platform for developing sustainable, climate-neutral solutions for the energy and mobility transition.

The EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is set to become the new, climate-neutral corporate headquarters of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, supporting the company's growth and sustainability targets: "SPIE's core business involves offering services for a carbon-free economy. This is why we see ourselves as part of the solution for a sustainable future. The move to the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf emphasizes this mission of SPIE like no other place. We are looking forward to lots of exciting opportunities for sharing knowledge and collaborating with strong partners who, like us, are committed to advancing the energy and mobility transition. At the same time, we are offering our employees a unique environment for working and networking," says Markus Holzke, Managing Director of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. Reinhard Müller, Chairman and CEO of EUREF AG, who, after the EUREF Campus in Berlin, is now opening the second such campus in Düsseldorf: "In Düsseldorf, we would like to demonstrate that the shift to renewable energy is possible and affordable. EUREF Campus Düsseldorf will be a place of the future and provide space for ideas developed by companies, start-ups, scientists, academics and researchers."

Innovation platform for energy, mobility and climate protection:

"As a multi-technical service provider, we offer solutions for climate protection in many different areas. We are supporting the transition to sustainable mobility. In the area of technical facility management, we offer a wide range of solutions for optimising energy consumption in buildings, plants and infrastructure. In the field of transmission and distribution, we are an important partner for projects that increase the share of renewable energies in the energy mix. We also want to play a leading role in the development of hydrogen as a next-generation technology", says Dr André Schimmel, Chief Strategy Officer and member of the Management Board of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. "At the EUREF Campus, we find numerous like-minded people and a network of large and small companies that are shaping the energy and mobility transition. We know from previous partnerships – ARENA2036 in Stuttgart, for example – how inspiring it is to work in a place that embodies the collaborative spirit needed for developing new ideas and innovative solutions", continues Dr André Schimmel.

Innovative and inspiring working environment

With the move to the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf, SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa is making a clear commitment to an innovative and inspiring working environment: "The campus offers a myriad of opportunities to share knowledge and develop new ideas. Open-plan spaces put people and their interaction front and centre. We create solutions for a modern and smart working environment that attractively combines the benefits of mobile and in-person working and offers incredible flexibility," says Bianca Stöhr, head of People, Culture & CSR and member of the Management Board of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa.

SPIE to be responsible for on-campus technical operations

"We are especially pleased that SPIE is not only moving to the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf but will also be responsible for its technical building operations," says Rainer Hollang, General Manager of the Efficient Facilities operational division and member of the Management Board of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. When the campus opens in 2024, SPIE will assume responsibility for technical facility management over an area covering 36,000 square metres. When the second construction phase is complete in 2025, this area will be expanded by another 27,000 square metres. The EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is a building complex engineered to the highest technical standards and featuring an innovative energy concept. Thanks to a high-tech power station and the use of renewable energies, the campus will benefit from a completely carbon-neutral energy supply.
