Netherlands: SPIE supports Brunel Solar Team in shared mission for sustainable innovation

Amsterdam, 5 July 2023 – SPIE Nederland, the Dutch subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, and the Brunel Solar Team, along with students from TU Delft, have signed a sponsorship agreement for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge starting on 22 October 2023. This partnership reaffirms the two organisations' joint mission for sustainable and innovative technologies.

The World Solar Challenge is an international competition in which student teams from all over the world take on the challenge of designing, building, and racing a solar car.

The partnership between SPIE and the Delft Solar Team is based on a shared vision of sustainability and innovation. "We are proud to sponsor this year's Solar team from Delft and thus support their commitment to sustainability and innovation," said Lieve Declercq, Managing Director of SPIE Nederland. "As a company committed to green technologies and energy efficiency, we believe this partnership allows us to jointly push the boundaries of sustainable technological developments."

The Brunel Solar team is also pleased with the collaboration with SPIE. "SPIE's support is invaluable for our team," said Lennart Hessels, team leader of the Brunel Solar Team. "SPIE is a pioneer in energy efficiency, smart infrastructure and sustainable solutions. With their expertise and experience as a multi-technical services provider, we can further develop our design and technology and strive for an even more sustainable and efficient solar car."

The event gives the team with students from TU Delft and SPIE the opportunity to present their joint efforts to an international audience of professionals, students and other enthusiasts. Both parties look forward to a successful participation in the race.
