On 3 June, SPIE Operations, SPIE France and SPIE Global Services Energy signed a sponsorship agreement to support an extraordinary planting project, giving rise to the new Maubuisson forest.
To the articleA look back at the Maubuisson forest project and SPIE's commitment to this great project for the future.
Located in the heart of the Val-d'Oise, close to SPIE's head office, the Maubuisson forest aims to transform a polluted former suburban plain into a 1,340-hectare natural area.
A green infrastructure serving the climate, biodiversity and the people of Île-de-France.
This project, led by the Syndicat Mixte d'Aménagement de la Plaine de Pierrelaye-Bessancourt (SMAPP), involves the planting of one million trees selected for their ability to adapt to climatic conditions and their phytostabilisation capacity, thereby helping to capture and store carbon.
With its 30 species of trees and 90 km of paths, this forest will become a new benchmark ecosystem in the Île-de-France region, offering 12 million residents a leisure area, while playing an essential role in preserving biodiversity and combating climate change.
35 years of local commitment to innovation and sustainable development
By undertaking to finance the planting of 5 hectares of forest as part of a patronage programme with SMAPP, SPIE is strengthening its local roots and its commitment to decarbonisation. This partnership illustrates the company's sustainable development policy, which has been promoting local employment and environmental initiatives, such as offsetting emissions from business travel, in Cergy for 35 years.
This initiative is perfectly in line with the company's values, positioning itself as a partner to local communities, combining technological innovation and environmental responsibility.

Guided tour organised for around thirty SPIE collaborators alongside the ONF and the SMAPP. « This visit enabled me to learn a lot about reforestation and the environment around us. This partnership makes a lot of sense, and is completely in line with SPIE's decarbonisation approach. » Aurore Fruteau, Executive Assistant at SPIE Nucléaire.
SPIE France about the topicOn 25 November 2024, Bernard TAILLY, Chairman of SMAPP, inaugurated the 6th planting campaign for the Maubuisson forest. Launched in winter 2019, the creation of this forest has reached a key stage with this new campaign, bringing the wooded area to 310 hectares, more than half of the final target. Isabelle Lambert and her team were also presented with an oak lace sculpture by woodcarver Pascal OUDET on behalf of SPIE, as part of our partnership.
To the SMAPP articleAs part of our commitment as a patron of the Maubuisson forest, two events were held on the morning of December 2nd 2024 at SPIE's head office: the planting ceremony for a dozen one-year-old oak trees, renowned for their durability and low maintenance requirements, and a conference looking back at the birth of the project and the development of the Maubuisson forest.
