Cergy, 14 December 2021 – SPIE Oil & Gas Services, an international subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in energy and communications, deploys its “Process and Pipelines Services” (PPS) offer, a complete range of topsides[1] and pipelines[2] control and cleaning services.
With over 40 years of expertise in providing sustainable energy solutions, SPIE Oil & Gas Services is positioning itself as a trusted partner in supporting its customers to move towards a more responsible industry. The diversification of its activities is part of this positioning and has recently resulted in the integration of a new offer: "Process & Pipeline Services" (PPS), a new range of maintenance, control, cleaning and integrity testing of topsides and pipelines of oil and gas assets. This new activity, launched in Ghana and Nigeria, covers all phases of the asset life cycle, from engineering and construction, to hook-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning, operation and maintenance, and decommissioning.
The launch of the PPS offer follows the purchase of equipment and the integration of PPS specialists operating in Ghana and Nigeria for the pre-commissioning and maintenance of oil and gas installations. “Acquiring industrial equipment to develop a Process & Pipeline Services line was a unique opportunity for SPIE Nigeria & Ghana to diversify and expand its services portfolio and broaden our technical expertise within the oil & gas industry,” says Olivier Fruit, Director of sub-Saharan Africa Business Unit.
The PPS product line includes solutions for engineering and construction, assessment and skills development, commissioning and start-up, operation, maintenance and integrity tests of oil and gas assets. Through PPS, SPIE Oil & Gas Services provides maintenance operations on pipelines, oil & gas production plants / platforms, refineries, LNG[3] FPSOs (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), performs preventive or corrective maintenance operations but also major maintenance operations, such as shutdowns. On construction yards, PPS performs integrity and cleaning tests before shipment to installation sites.
Development prospects
One of the first implementations of the PPS offering is currently taking place on the Amenam-Kpono field, located about 30 km off the eastern part of the Niger Delta.
Similar services are provided at the Erha Terminal, an FPSO located 97 km off the coast of Nigeria. To guarantee the safety of the equipment, SPIE Oil & Gas Services performs torquing and sealing tests and the replacement of 300 meters of export pipeline. “All leaks from bolted joints are avoidable. Preventing leaks in the first place is much more cost effective than repairing leaks and, of course, prevents pollution. Providing clean and leak-free facilities is a key goal for us,” says Mark Notoma, Sr. Manager, Business Development and PPS & SD Service Line in Nigeria & Ghana.
Building on its achievements in Nigeria and Ghana, SPIE Oil & Gas Services' ambition is to develop Process & Pipeline Services to other countries in sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
